Fame Whore Doctor Tries to Capitalize on Death of Dr. Ryan
2010
According to TMZ, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Ryan Motykie has made a tacky play at acquiring the patients of Dr. Frank Ryan, who was killed in a car accident a few short weeks ago.
“One month after Dr. Ryan died on Pacific Coast Highway, many of his patients received emails from the office of Dr. Gary Motykie (pictured above right) — explaining that several of Ryan’s staffers have moved to his “team.” The email also includes an invitation to an open house at his office.”
As expected, many of Dr. Ryan’s patients were appalled to receive such an email from their beloved doctor’s competition and Dr. Motykie received several negative responses:
– “I have NEVER met you, nor have I ever authorized you to use my contact information for YOU or anyone else other than Dr Ryan! This is a total breach of confidentiality”
– “This soliciting for business is completely unethical”
– “Dr Ryan would be FURIOUS! Shame on you for trying to steal Dr Ryan’s patients”
And while sending such an email is dirty and less then classy, apparently it is not a legal violation of privacy to “share contact information as long as it’s for treatment purposes or a doctor referral.”
I checked out Dr. Motykie’s website and it’s basically a big ol’ bragging board for how famous he thinks he is:
“Catch Dr. Motykie on E!…Dr. Motykie will be featured on MTV’s True Life!…Dr Motykie is featured on E! Entertainment’s Under the Knife: Celebrity Plastic Surgery!…Look for Dr. Motykie on Extreme Dr. 90210!”
Personally, if I was to undergo plastic surgery, it wouldn’t be by some tacky fame whore plastic surgeon, but I guess some people are into that.

I blogged as well on this guy’s infamous ploy. From what you have indicated, it is a shame as it looks like it is working.
